#Promotion #Protection #Asia: "GIs week" in Lao

From 24 to 28 October 2016, a “GIs week” will be held in Vientiane (Lao PDR), organized by the Department of Intellectual Property of the Ministry of Science and Technology of Lao PDR, in cooperation with various partners, including oriGIn and the FAO-AFD Regional Project on the promotion of Rural Development through the development of Geographical Indications at Regional level in Asia.

In particular, during the “GIs week”, the following initiatives will take place:

  • A Workshop to launch the new Lao PDR Geographical Indications system (25 October);
  • A Regional Seminar on the Promotion of GIs (26 and 27 October);
  • An International GIs exhibition and business match-making (26, 27 and 28 October).

If your organization is interested in protecting the GI it represents (as well as promoting it) in Lao PDR and/or in ASEAN countries, you can participate in the above-mentioned initiatives. For more details on how to participate, please contact:
