06/12/2011 - PRESS RELEASE:oriGIn welcomes the outcome of the discussion on the Milk Package which provides for GI cheese producers the possibility to manage their production

At a trilogue meeting in Brussels today, the Council of Ministers, the European Parliament and the European Commission reached an important agreement on the Milk Package. The compromise which has to be ratified by the Ministers and all of the Members of the European Parliament in plenary session provides for groups of producers in charge of a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) or Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) cheese to manage the growth of their production volumes.
