Sustainability challenges in Geographical Indications involve the environmental impact, climate change, and resource management, all of which pose a threat to traditional production methods. Producers often encounter economic and regulatory hurdles when attempting to adapt to climate change. Furthermore, achieving a balance between maintaining authenticity, ensuring sustainability, and meeting the evolving expectations of consumers and market demands remains a significant challenge.
During the webinar, Fabrice MATTEI (Rouse) will explore various strategies and practices developed by GIs to adapt and mitigate the effects of climate change, featuring real-world examples from the wine industry, as well as olive oil production in Shodoshima (Japan) and Corsica.
