The official inauguration of oriGIn Latin America Office – which will be located at the Tequila Regulatory Council (CRT) – will be held on 27 May 2026, in Guadalajara, Mexico. The invitation letter from Mr. Ramón González Figueroa, Director General of the CRT, is available HERE.
The inauguration takes place in the framework of the Annual Meeting of Directors of Intellectual Property Offices of Latin America, co-organized by WIPO and the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI). The gathering brings together 25 Directors General, WIPO representatives, and senior regional authorities.
The Latin America’s office opening comes at a significant moment, with the EU-Mercosur Interim Trade Agreement which started being provisionally applied on 1 May 2026, the EU-Mexico Modernised Global Agreement expected to be signed soon, and local national authorities increasingly interested in fully tapping into the development potential of GIs.
The inauguration will be followed, on 28 May, by a seminar on GIs in Latin America.
