From 8–10 October 2025, the city of Morelia, Michoacán, Mexico, welcomed the global community of Geographical Indications (GIs) for the oriGIn 2025 Biennial Meeting — an historic gathering that brought together more than 600 participants from 35 countries.
Hosted by Casa de Artesanías de Michoacán de Ocampo, with the support of the State of Michoacán, the meeting united public and private GI stakeholders to exchange insights, share best practices, and explore new opportunities for collaboration in the evolving global GI landscape.
A milestone of the event was the official launch of oriGIn Latin America, marked by the signing of an agreement between oriGIn, Casa de Artesanías de Michoacán de Ocampo, and the Consejo Regulador del Tequila during the Biennial Meeting’s opening session. This new regional platform will strengthen cooperation and promote the development of GIs across Latin America.
