
The 2025 oriGIn Biennial Meeting, held in Morelia, Michoacán (Mexico) from 8 to 10 October, brought together over 600 participants from more than 35 countries for a three-day program full of inspiring activities and exchanges, marking a highly successful gathering for the global GI community.
In this framework, the oriGIn Statutory General Assembly – held on 8 October (see the program) – approved the proposed modifications to the Statutes and Internal Regulation, aimed at strengthening the cohesion of oriGIn’s global network and consolidating its Secretariat in Geneva.
The Assembly also approved an amendment proposed by oriGIn Italia concerning the oriGIn Manifesto on Global Policies – a strategic policy document defining oriGIn’s values, policy areas and positions on key global issues affecting GIs, to be reviewed every two years.

The General Assembly decided to give oriGIn members there months to comment on the draft version of oriGIn Manifesto on Global Policies 2026-2027 presented in Morelia. Comments should be sent to massimo@origin-gi.com and ida@origin-gi.com no later than 26 January 2026. According to the Assembly deliberations, the Manifesto final version will be then consolidated by the oriGIn Executive Committee.
