The oriGIn 2026 Expert Meeting will convene the international GI community in Geneva for two days of high-level exchange, expert dialogue, and networking. This year’s theme “GIs as a Pillar of Multilateral Cooperation” reflects the strategic relevance of geographical indications in a rapidly evolving geopolitical landscape.
Held across two parallel rooms (full program), the event brings together an exceptional line-up of speakers representing law and technology firms, intellectual property offices, communication agencies, policymaking institutions, universities, and control bodies, making this a truly unique event, both in its format and the breadth of its content.
- The legal room addresses the most pressing issues in GI protection and enforcement, including international treaties, trademark conflicts, and the role of technologies.
- New this year, the promotion & sustainability room responds to the community’s evolving priorities, exploring promotion funding opportunities, innovative communication strategies, a dedicated matchmaking session to connect GI groups with potential partners, as well as the contribution of GIs to sustainable development.
Following numerous requests, online participation will be available for the legal room sessions. Please note that registration for online participation closes on 16 June. We look forward to welcoming you — in Geneva or online.
