10/05/2016: The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) enforcement database (EDB)

The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) enforcement database (EDB) is a tool to protect against counterfeiting authentic products which have been granted intellectual property rights. Through a register, the EDB makes relevant information concerning authentic products available to enforcement authorities in their own language. Any intellectual property owner/beneficiary can benefit from the EDB by entering the product’s information in the register: https://euipo.europa.eu/ohimportal/en/web/observatory/enforcement-database

As GIs fall under the scope of application of Regulation (EU) No 608/2013 of 12 June 2013 concerning customs enforcement of intellectual property rights, the EDB could represent an interesting tool for GIs.
