15/04/2021 – Oman joins the Geneva Act of the Lisbon Agreement

thumb wipoOn March 20, Oman joined the Geneva Act of the Lisbon Agreement. Oman will be able to protect national Appellations of Origin and Geographical Indications – such as ‘Omani frankincense’ (essential oil), ‘Al-Jabali goats’ and ‘al-Saidi dagger’ – under the treaty. The Geneva Act is designed to help producers of quality goods linked to their origin and national competent authorities protect distinctive designations in multiple jurisdictions, through a single application filed with WIPO and the payment of one set of fees.

With the accession of Oman, the Geneva Act will cover 33 jurisdictions.
