05-07/10/2023: oriGIn 2023 Biennial Meeting, Geneva (in person): Information (Registration closed)

PRESENTATION

The oriGIn 2023 Biennial Meeting will take place in Geneva (Switzerland), at the oriGIn headquarters, Octagon Building, 2 chemin du Pavillon, 1218, Le Grand Saconnex, Geneva (See it on the Map), from 5 to 7 October, 2023.

Geneva – one of the international capitals of global governance for intellectual property, trade and sustainable development – will contribute to make this event a unique learning and networking opportunity for public and private GI stakeholders worldwide. We expect some 200 participants from GI groups, public authorities in charge of GIs, international organizations, negotiatiors, law firms, control bodies, private companies and academia.

In terms of program, a mix of tradition and innovation will create a favorable environment to share experiences and launch cooperation initiatives.

oriGIn would like to thank the “Association Suisse des AOP/IGP”, the  Federation of Swiss Watch Industry,  the “Interprofession du Gruyère”, the Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property (IPI) and the Swiss Federal Office for Agriculture (OFAG) for their support in the organization of the 2023 Biennial Meeting.

THEMATIC INFORMAL GI SESSIONS: A NEW FORMAT FOR MEMBERS AND PARTNERS

For the 2023 Biennial Meeting, oriGIn proposes an additional moment to gather its members and partners to allow them to explore opportunities of collaboration, share best-practices and promote services. Join us on 5 October in the morning, in a modern and comfortable space, to have coffee and discuss informally about 4 interesting topics:

  • Emerging legal GIs issues
  • GI Cooperation activities and the role of oriGIn
  • Technological tools for GIs
  • GI alliances for sustainability

Discussions will be led by oriGIn and some members/partners. If you are interested in leading with oriGIn one these sessions, please write to massimo@origin-gi.com

WORKING LANGUAGES

The oriGIn 2023 Biennial Meeting working languages will be English, French, and Spanish with simultaneous interpretation. Simultaneous interpretation will not be available in the morning of 5 October for the informal thematic GI sessions and the afternoon of 6 October for the conference parallel sessions.

ALLOW THE ORIGIN BIENNIAL MEETING GLOBAL AUDIENCE TO DISCOVER YOUR GI 

1. GI exhibition (5 and 6 October)

If you wish to show the global audience attending the oriGIn 2023 Biennial Meeting the GI you represent, you can book (a) table(s) at the venue dedicated space (Octagon Building, ground floor, see photo).

The cost for reserving a table is 400 CHF for the two days, 5 and 6 October (250 CHF for one day). The Octagon Building has a security service, you will be able to set up your table(s) in the morning of 5 October and recuperate the material on 6 October in the evening. A limited number of tables are available, so do not hesitate to reserve yours.

2. GI tasting sessions (6 October)

If you wish to allow the global audience attending the oriGIn 2023 Biennial Meeting to enjoy the GI you represent, you can organize 1 or more tasting sessions on 6 October.  

The cost for reserving a tasting session (equipped table with 1 person to support preparation and serving) is 500 CHF.  A limited number of tasting sessions are available, so do not hesitate to reserve yours.

  1.  For oriGIn members

The first 3 participants from each oriGIn member and associate member are entitled to register for the event free of charge.

Any additional participant (on top of the first 3 participants entitled to register free of charge) will incur in the following registration fees:

  • For a one-day participation: 200 CHF
  • For a two-day participation: 300 CHF
  • For a three-day participation: 400 CHF

While registering an additional participant, please make the payment based on the number of days the person will attend.

Depending on your nationality, it may be necessary to obtain a visa in order to travel to Switzerland.

  1. Transportation

Geneva offers a comprehensive and efficient public transportation system, including trams, buses, and trains, making it easy to navigate and explore.

For travelers arriving at Geneva International Airport, a direct train connects the airport to the city center in just a few minutes.

To reach the Octagon building (event venue) there are convenient bus options: Bus F, with the Suzette stop located just in front of the venue, and bus 5, with the Grand Saconnex Place stop situated a short 5-minute walk away. The Octagon building is close to the airport.

If you are planning to arrive by car, there is convenient parking available outside the Octagon building. To secure a parking spot, it is important to indicate your need for this option during the online registration process.
